My Role in the Extinction of the Moon Marmots

free-scifi-marmots

John Baba, head of the United Nations Security Council, reacted swiftly. “Look at his little boots,” he said. “And his helmet!”

The messenger, a Vancouver Island marmot with a master's in International Relations, was not a he, and was not amused. “My uniform is standard issue,” she squeaked. “Furthermore—”

“Listen to it talk!” Baba yelped. The humans erupted with laughter.

The marmot hoisted a tiny flag bearing the seal of the Marmot Collective. “Prepare to defend yourselves,” she cheeped, and marched out.

Space Race

“Houston, our monopropellant injector is leaking; the fire’s now breached the hull. We have a matter of minutes before complete mechanical failure.”
“Gemini, mission control is going to go ahead and recommend an emergency landing.”
“Houston, it sounded like you suggested we attempt a crash landing onto a moving commercial spacecraft. Please confirm.”
“Gemini, this is a passenger cruise liner, which is an incredibly reliable mode of upmarket transport. We can’t think of a safer place for you to be should anything go wrong during touchdown…”

Her shoe had gone missing on the dance floor. It probably got stuck in one of the holes of the crumbling wooden planks that urgently needed refinishing and was by now trampled down to its makings: rubber, leather, rhinestones.

Leather Is Back

free-speculative-fiction

As the whole world knows by now, last weekend's wardrobe malfunction on the red carpet was actually a bold fashion statement by Clarinne. The “skin” she flashed was really a daring design by LaPeau Leather. So I, as your fashion reporter, have dedicated this week's article to giving you all the details.

I am pleased to announce, Ladies (and of course, you discerning Gentlemen), that Leather is Back! Cruelty-free and more fashion-conscious than ever!

LaPeau has perfected vat-grown leathers that even the most expensive DNA test couldn't tell from traditional sources. And their growing methods have made it possible to have seams only where fashion demands, not where nature dictates. What progress!
